In this workshop you will have the opportunity to learn a traditional Japanese Technique that elevates the beauty in broken ceramic. Kintsugi provides a second opportunity to broken pieces with a sense of acceptance of the naturalness of loss and transience. 
Incorporated in the Wabi-Sabi philosophy of "imperfect, impermanent and incomplete", Kintsugi shows us joy in the art of repairing what once was and reveal a new piece with new essence.

We invited Miyuki to lead this workshop. She repairs pieces for Japanese restaurants in the Lisbon area, here is a message from her:

"Hi, I'm Miyuki, from Japan. Let's transform your broken pieces into stunning masterpieces with Japanese repairing technique! Join us enjoying Kintsugi together celebrating Wabi-Sabi spirit!"

You will be able to bring your own pieces (or you can use the ceramic we provide) and repair them with New Urushi Glue in Silver and Gold colours. 

After application, we will be in contact with you to check the pieces you will bring for the workshop to understand if they are suitable or not.

NOTES
  • Broken items must be glazed (email us if you're not sure)
  • Broken pieces should be no more than palm sized and have a maximum of 4 parts to be fixed. 
  • You can repair up to 2 items during the workshop
  • Strong smelling materials will be used throughout the workshop
  • This workshop is not suitable for children
  • Fixed items need 7 rest days before washing.
  • Fixed items will not be food safe and are suitable only for decoration
