Join us for an immersive and hands-on ceramic experience in this Intensive Handbuilding Course which takes place over 4 days this May 2025! Whether you're a complete beginner or a newbie to ceramics, this course will provide you with a strong foundation in the art of handbuilding.
Throughout four engaging sessions, you’ll explore the four essential handbuilding techniques—pinch, coil, slab, and hollow techniques—and discover how to bring your creative visions to life. You’ll also learn the fundamentals of glazing, surface decoration with oxides and ceramic chalk, and final firings.
Schedule:
May 12th, 13th, 14th and 16th (Mon, Tues, Wed and Fri) - 10:30 - 13:30
Workshop Breakdown:
Session 1: Introduction to ceramics. Pinch technique for vessels & coil building for continuous construction. First engobe applications.
Session 2: Slab technique and engobe applications.
Session 3: Hollow technique and more surface decoration with engobes.
Session 4: Glazing & decorating of previously bisqued fired pieces with oxides and ceramic chalk.

TIMEFRAME: We try our best to have your pieces ready for collection within 4 weeks. We will always email you to let you know when they are ready to pick up. Please note: we can only keep pieces for 1 month after you have been notified.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Classes are non-refundable but you can rebook to a future class, provided you give at least 2 days notice.
NOTE: If the class does not meet a minimum number of students, unfortunately, it will be cancelled.
